Our mission was to find or make a flexible, ductile and durable glass. We wanted to see if we could help society from glass breaking because of robberies, weather and accidental slips. We found from the help of Shi-Qing Wang what glass is the best for durability, but in the temperature range of where a human lives. We soon researched enough and talked to our mentor enough to find that polycarbonate glass was the best glass for being in the temperature range and being efficiently flexible and ductile.

The Chemical FormulaWe will show two basic polycarbonate glass formulas to show everyone the basics of the glass. Both have 3 or 4 elements that are all gases.
We used our genius hour time to research and understand 2 formulas of polycarbonate glass. At first, we didn't even know what the lines in between the elements were and had know idea what covalent bonding was. But thanks to the learning in class and Shi-Qing Wang, we now understand almost all of the first formula and all of the second. |
The Benefits of PolycarbonateWe found out that polycarbonate glass was used for things we see today everyday. It is used in sunglasses because of it's strong UAV resistance and also in cars for strength against bad weather much more use polycarbonate glass in this world, but our main project is how we understood the formula and how we found it out.
